Jean Touitou founded A.P.C. in 1987, initially using labels that read "HIVER 1987." By 1989, the brand adopted A.P.C. labels. They expanded with stores in Tokyo (1991) and New York (1993). A.P.C.'s early collections featured minimalist designs and later included raw Japanese denim. Co-designer Louis Wong also launched the high-end jacket line, Louis W., under A.P.C.
